Soul Care When You’re Grieving by Edie Melson

If you’re a writer, you understand the importance of caring for your mental health. If you don’t? Well, you haven’t been writing long enough! But it’s not just your mental health–it’s your spiritual health and your emotional health that are in need of care too, especially if you’re a creative.

That’s where my good friend Edie Melson comes in with her amazing Soul Care series books. Soul Care When You’re Grieving is the latest release, and it’s full of guided prayers, personal devotions, and creative exercises to help restore you during a time of mourning and loss.

BOOK BLURB

There is no right or wrong way to face loss. But do you ever feel you could be coping better?

Grief is difficult. We all experience it-and we experience it differently. But what if you could break down some of the barriers created by grief? What if you could latch onto ways to engage again with the world around you?

It’s far too easy to be tied to common misconceptions about grief. By reframing those misconceptions, we can learn to give ourselves more grace as we process loss. Each chapter of Soul Care When You’re Grieving is designated by the opposite of one of the five experiences of grief and can help you start that course to reframing through: Devotions, Prayers, and Creative Exercises.

God designed you uniquely–including how you process loss. Learn to embrace your own personal blueprint for dealing with grief.

MY THOUGHTS

Emotional and mental health is something that has always been difficult for me. I tend to focus on very practical needs, and I rarely think to care for my soul. A lot of folks I know are that way. But if our minds and hearts are hurting, the rest of us will hurt too. This is even more true when we are grieving. That’s why these books are so important.

Heartfelt and deeply moving, SOUL CARE WHEN YOU’RE GRIEVING is an honest look at how to care for your soul when you are experiencing emotional pain. It’s a powerful handbook (workbook, journal supplement, etc) for anyone who has suffered loss.

Edie matches authentic compassion with solid biblical truth, using her own struggles through grief as examples. With guided creative exercises for the artistic minded and thoughtfully worded prayers, this book points to God as our loving Father who deeply desires to walk with us through our season of morning, and it helps us see that a return to joy isn’t a betrayal of the ones we have lost. A beautiful resource for anyone who is hurting
