I’m not a hugely spontaneous person (normally), but every now and then I do something nobody expects. Like this week when me and my roomie went on a crazy jaunt up to the Denver area to hang out with a good friend of ours for a few days. Our friend was visiting her parents (who were kind enough to put us up and feed us while we were there), and she had her two-year-old daughter with her. So as you can imagine, many fun adventures came about.
Our full day in Denver, we went on a pretty epic day-long adventure. We started at the swings in the back yard. Gwenny had a great time instructing us when to swing her (“One … two… three… GO!”).
After we swung in the backyard, we went on a walk through the neighborhood to a beautiful walking trail a little ways from the house. Gwenny was safe and sound in her stroller with her dinosaur pal tagging along for the ride.
Gwenny’s mama and my roomie walked out front while I brought up the rear, snapping photos like a creeper.
After we walked for a while, we found an awesome playground! Gwenny was pretty excited.
Gwenny could climb up the steps to the big slide all by herself!
And she could slide down the big slide all by herself! (Seriously this kid is two years old, and she comes up to my thigh. We blame her daddy for the giant genes, because her mom is teeny tiny.)
Next, Gwenny found the swings, but she came to get her mom to help her out.
After that, Gwenny climbed around on a lot of stuff and picked up some things she probably shouldn’t have. So like the awesome mama she is, my buddy got the wet wipe and cleaned off Gwenny’s hands. Gwenny, unfortunately, wasn’t very happy about that.
But Gwenny comforted herself by playing in the mulch chips and getting her hands dirty again. Isn’t it fabulous being two years old? 😉
After playing hard all day, we headed back to the house. We all had a ton of fun and laughed a lot and talked even more, but as we were climbing the steps to the house, we realized something. Where was Gwenny’s pal dinosaur?
Yup. Poor dinosaur. He got left behind on the street. But Mama Davis saved the day!
It was a beautiful few days in Denver, and we loved every minute. Wish we could have stayed longer. So great to see friends again, and so much fun to see how much Gwenny has grown.
