Just couldn’t get enough tea and biscuits

I love traveling. My family has always been about going places and doing things and seeing things and learning things. When we were kids, we’d drive all over the place. We went camping and hiking and sightseeing and picture-taking all over the place, and so as an adult, I guess it’s not surprising that I still love to travel.

I can’t say I’m a huge fan of airplanes, but they do get us where we need to go. And in this case, where I need to go is the United Kingdom. I got the great opportunity to go to visit my best friend in Carlisle, Cumbria, UK in 2013, and since she decided to go back for another tour (two years this time), I was hoping I’d have the opportunity to go back. And guess what? I do!

I’m leaving for the UK on May 5, and I’ll be gone for a whole two weeks! I’m so excited. It will be wonderful to see her, but I’m also looking forward to being back in England and Scotland. Since I’ve been there once now, I’m eager to go back when I won’t be so disoriented.

But I’m also excited because I’m not going alone. Last year, my brother came with me, and it was quite an adventure. But this year, my dad is tagging along, and so is another friend. And that’s when I got the idea to do a travelog to share about our adventures while we’re over there.

So starting today and for the next few Saturdays, I’ll be posting information about those of us going. It will help make sense of everything, because if I make a joke about how the British folks react to my dad’s hippie beard, you’ll already know that he has a hippie beard. And if I happen to make mention of Mr. Waddles DePenguin, you’ll know exactly who I’m talking about… 😉

I’ll be the narrator, of course. The Storyteller, if you prefer. I know my best friend has a great blog, and she may be blogging about our time together too. But this blog will be everything that happens from my perspective… Well, maybe I shouldn’t say everything. Because I did edit my last UK journal/blog for some content… not because it was bad or anything. But mostly because nobody would have believed it actually happened.

Things like that just sort of tend to happen to me…

Set ready for a great adventure, because I promise you, nobody can go anywhere with the three people I’ll be traveling with and not have an adventure.
