Black-eyed peas and New Year traditions

blackeyed_peasMy family doesn’t hold to a lot of traditions. I can probably count them on one hand. They mainly all happen around holidays, and I think all of them have to do with food.

For St. Patrick’s Day we eat corned beef and cabbage. For Thanksgiving, I make pumpkin pie, and Mom makes homemade cranberry relish. For Christmas, we always make fudge and other candies, and there’s always an orange of some kind in a stocking. And for New Year’s Day, we always eat black-eyed peas.

Anyone else have some family traditions to go along with holidays or special ocassions?
