Easy, custom ringtones for free

The other day, I was sitting in the living room, watching the last few minutes of Jeopardy, when the unmistakable strains of the Lion King’s famous “Circle of Life” song started playing.

You don’t even have to be a Disney fan to recognize this iconic theme. My problem? I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Not Jeopardy, certainly. Nobody was downstairs watching it. So where was it coming from?

Then Mom ran into the other room and came back moments later talking on her cell phone. Once she finished talking, she informed me that she’d accidentally assigned the wrong ringtone to her phone.

So, now, every time someone calls her, we are treated to the sound of the most recognizable, most indecipherable, yet most singable song in Disney’s catalog of chart-toppers. (What? You haven’t tried singing it? Don’t lie. You know you have.)

But it’s not just my mom who has been setting caller-specific ringtones. Oh, no, I have some joyous selections myself. My brother’s ringtone is the theme from Super Mario Brothers. My sister-in-law has the theme from the Lord of the Rings. My dad has a fragment of Bolero. Just awesomeness like that. My text alert noise is a Zat gun from Stargate: SG01 too.

How did we do all this?

Screenshot Zedge MotoG 5xWell, it was super easy. So easy that I could show my parents and my grandparents how to do it. It’s all through an amazing FREE app called ZEDGE.

I honestly can’t explain how I never heard of this incredible app. Free ringtones, guys! And it’s super easy to use. I’m sure that there are certain ringtones or games or wallpapers you can buy, but the vast majority of them are all free.

For the ringtones, all you do is search for your desired song or sound byte by keyword. Then, browse through the results. You can like a particular clip or download it directly to your phone. You can assign the song or track to a specific contact using the app itself, and that’s all there is to it. It’s super easy and super fun.

And I suspect if you assign the wrong sound, it’s pretty easy to fix. At least, if it isn’t, I’ll write about it again. Because even though I love the Lion King, listening to “Circle of Life” every time someone wants to talk to my mom is getting a little old.

That being said, if you have my mom’s number, you should call her … because it’s funny.

And go check out ZEDGE! Have fun with it. I certainly have!
